This FAQ answers common questions from race sponsors about the emails Racery sends to participants. It is designed to be shared with clients as-is.
Email Types
Racery sends several categories of automated emails to participants:
Registration & Onboarding
- Signup confirmation and welcome
- Race starting soon reminders
- Getting started tips (passcode, bio, app download)
During the Race
- Daily activity reports (yesterday's activity summary)
- Progress milestone notifications (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%)
- Overtake notifications (when you pass another racer)
- Activity reminders for inactive participants
- Social notifications (likes, comments, message board posts)
Fundraising (if enabled)
- Donation received notifications
- Donor weekly summaries
Post-Race
- Race completion and finish award delivery
- Final results summary
Admin Emails
- New racer registration notifications
- Weekly race reports
- General race activity reports
General Questions
What emails will my participants receive?
Participants receive emails at key moments: registration confirmation, pre-race reminders, daily activity summaries, milestone celebrations, overtake notifications, and post-race awards. The exact set depends on your race configuration and each participant's activity level.
Can participants unsubscribe from these emails?
Yes. Every email includes an unsubscribe link in the footer. Participants can opt out of specific email types while still receiving essential transactional emails. If a participant doesn't open a specific email type for seven days, Racery automatically opts them out and sends a follow-up asking if they'd like to continue receiving it.
What email address do these come from?
Emails are sent from a Racery address. The "from" name will include your race name so participants can easily recognize it in their inbox.
Will participants be spammed with too many emails?
No. Racery uses automatic opt-out for unengaged recipients and caps frequency on engagement emails to prevent overload.
Branding & Customization
Are the emails branded with our company's look and feel?
Emails can include your organization's logo, brand colors, and a custom welcome message. The race banner image you provide will appear in key emails like the welcome and daily reports.
Can we customize the email content?
If your event package includes custom automated emails, contact team@racery.com to discuss customization options for your race.
Managing Emails
Can I turn off certain email types?
Some email types are configurable per race. Essential transactional emails (registration confirmation, completion awards) cannot be disabled. Contact team@racery.com for email configuration options.
Can I preview emails before the race starts?
Contact team@racery.com about email preview and test-send capabilities.
Can I send a custom announcement email to all participants?
Yes. The dashboard includes an announcement email feature that lets organizers send custom messages to all registered participants.
