Group Management Dashboard

Overview

The Group Management dashboard lets you organize racers into groups — by department, office location, ERG, or any other affinity. Groups provide organizational segmentation and their own leaderboards, separate from competitive teams.

Accessing the Dashboard

From your race's dashboard hub, click Group management in the sidebar under PEOPLE.

Groups vs. Teams

Groups and teams serve different purposes in Racery:

Feature Groups Teams
Purpose Organizational segmentation (departments, locations, ERGs) Competitive units with shared goals
Leaderboards Group standings for reporting Real-time competitive leaderboards
Route avatars No Optional team avatars on the map
Message boards No Team-only chat
Finish awards No Team performance awards

Tip: A racer can belong to both a group and a team simultaneously. Use groups for reporting (e.g., "Which department logged the most miles?") and teams for competition.

Creating Groups

Click + to create a new group. Give each group a clear name that racers will recognize (e.g., "Marketing", "NYC Office", "Veterans ERG").

Common group structures:

  • By department: Engineering, Marketing, Sales, HR
  • By office: New York, London, Remote
  • By ERG: Women in Tech, Veterans, Pride
  • By role: Leadership, Individual Contributors, Interns

Assigning Racers

Racers can be assigned to groups in several ways:

  • Manual assignment: Add racers to groups from the dashboard
  • Coupon auto-assignment: Link a coupon code to a group — racers who use the code are automatically placed in that group
  • Self-selection: Allow racers to choose their group during registration

Group Leaderboards

Groups appear in the race's leaderboard and can be used to filter standings. This is useful for sponsors who want to see which department or office is most active, or for reporting engagement metrics by organizational unit.

Group data also appears in exported reports — the CSV export includes a "Groups" column for each racer.
